Lip balm was one of the very first products I learned to formulate, and I’ll admit—it took plenty of trial and error before I finally perfected the recipe. When I first began selling, I offered both a tube and potted version. Over time, I found that tube lip balms became the most popular with my customers, so that’s where I’ve focused most of my attention.
While I no longer sell lip balm in pots, I’m often asked to share a recipe tailored specifically for them, as tweaking a tube formula can take a lot of time and doesn’t always give the right results. So today, I’m delighted to share my original potted lip balm formula with you.
This balm is filled with nourishing, lip-loving ingredients that hydrate, protect, and soften, forming a barrier to lock in moisture—without leaving behind any heaviness, greasiness, or excessive shine. The balm maintains sufficient firmness to prevent mess, while providing just the right level of softness for application.
